Frequently Asked Questions about Kentucky’s Medical Marijuana Program

  • Medical marijuana will be fully legalized in January 2025.

For the time being, Governor Beshear created a pathway for patients with a qualifying medical condition to use and possess marijuana purchased at a licensed dispensary outside the state of Kentucky. These conditions include post traumatic stress disorder, cancer, and chronic pain. To qualify, you must have one of these medical conditions, be certified by a qualified physician, and keep your dispensary receipt.

  • Only a licensed medical marijuana provider can determine if you qualify for the program, so we cannot guarantee your approval. However, if you do not get approved by our marijuanas doctor you will receive a FULL refund!

We want to make this process 100% RISK-FREE for you!

  • During your medical marijuana evaluation, a state-licensed physician will evaluate you and certify you for marijuana use. The doctor will discuss your health history with you, as well as counsel you on the benefits and risks of marijuana use. Plan to budget between 10-15 minutes to answer the patient health history questions (this is done BEFORE the appointment), and about 15 minutes to talk with the Kentucky medical marijuana doctor.

  • No, health insurance companies do not cover any costs associated with medical marijuana due to its status as a Schedule I drug.
